The Client
Zahi Ziadeh, a young Lebanese entrepreneur, approached us in early 2015 to create a concept inspired by a true story, one related to the Ziadeh family. Zahi's father used to own a small sandwich shop during the Lebanese war which sustained them for a while and he was known for his delicious sandwiches and nicknamed "Abulward". Zahi wanted us to create a brand that reflects quality, professionalism and cleanliness without it being too pretentious.
Our Work
The identity mixes two visual styles: the neat and the human. The neat is reflected throughout the highly minimal logo that focuses on the name while reminding of the traditional Lebanese grill (man'al). The human is reflected throughout the identity in the usage of hand-drawn illustrations and Lebanese slang writings that convey the various aspects of the brand conceptually and physically.
